Iran advises other countries to 'refrain from entangling themselves'
TEHRAN - The Iranian mission to the United Nations has sent out a new statement advising other countries stay away from Tehran’s conflict with Israel.
“Our response will be solely directed at the aggressor. Should any country render assistance to the aggressor, it should likewise be deemed an accomplice and a legitimate target. We advise countries to refrain from entangling themselves in the conflict between the Israeli regime and Iran and to distance themselves from the fray,” the statement reads.
The waring comes about hours after a Security Council meeting place on Wednesday morning that lasted nearly three hours.
The Iranian ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saied Iravani, said the Iranian attack on Israel was self-defense in line with Article 51 of the UN charter.
He told the council that “Iran is fully prepared to take further defensive measures if necessary.”
